Having participated on various boards for several years as an independent director, shareholder representative, and CEO, I have come to the conclusion that this function has become a profession, and that the experience to it only, although primordial, is not enough. The industry is beginning to recognize this fact.

In 2009, I enrolled in the Institute of Corporate Directors certification program offered by Rothman and McGill Universities and obtained ICD.D certification.
